In this version you can see my original intent in the design of the card--I wanted it to look like the car was driving through the layers of the card in a tunnel.
This is a more is more version of the card I uploaded last night. I saw a few things I wanted to do to give it more pizzazz. Instead of deleting the previous post from my gallery, I'm uploading both versions, so you can see the differences. Jewels on the headlights, candy dots, the hat perched on the 0, and the car windows. First I dirtied up the windows a little, so they wouldn't be so white, then I used clear nail polish to give them some shine.
My great-uncle is turning 90 and I wanted to make a special card to celebrate. Today's Ways to Use It challenge was to use cars on our cards. This is one of the few car stamps that I own, so it worked out well for my classic uncle.
I like to make tri-fold cards--though I usually do it with a sheet of 12x12 DSP. This was is a regular card fold with another 4.25 (plus 1/2 inch added for tape) tacked on the front.
Since it was for a car challenge, I wanted to do something special with the car. It mostly worked to make it look like it was going through a tunnel. The car is drawn at an angle that doesn't work perfectly for this idea.
The sentiment page (another color-catcher paper from a brayering project long ago) was fun to do. I happened to see the nonagenarian definition on FB last week, so I printed it on the computer and added the You've Got This stamp.
I was going to crop the front oval, but decided to leave it after I started assembling the card. Now I'll just have to find a bigger envelope.
Change the sentiments and it's a great Father's Day card too.
